Riding is only artful when both horse and rider
display PLEASURE while exhibiting.
After horse and rider learn to communicate well with each other,
their performance becomes exciting, beautiful and fulfilling.
So-called "untrainable" and difficult horses, as well as mediocre riders,
are CREATED by having an overall method
forced upon them ... with the expectation
of obtaining a "normal" response.
This leaves no room for INDIVIDUAL behavior patterns,
instinctive needs, or differences.
At Robert O. Mayer DRESSAGE, the student's whole being is
accepted as the basis from which to start, and new patterns
are added to those already existing.
The method of instruction or training that is called for,
development, and progress are read from the student and/or horse
during each session ... and proceed step by step ...
until such harmony results between horse and rider that,
in the show ring, our students can be
easily recognized by the judges.
Foremost consideration is always given to the nature of the horse ...
